my parrot is scared

hi my quaker parrot is very scared i got him 2 days ago hes name is abbie he is 8 months old. every time i try to take him out he trys to get away i looked stuff up on the intenet but they said you should leave the cage open and it will go out its self. but im scared its going to fly allover my house what should i do i think its just not bonded with me please help me

Unless his wings are clipped, letting him out on his own isn't a good idea at this point.  You're right, he may take days to catch and get back into his cage .
