Hello Maggie,

Can you tell me why a budgie's cere changes colour?  My female budgie's cere changed colour from brown to light blue last week.  She is 6 years old.

Hi Vanessa,

This color change could be totally natural, since your budgie is starting to get into her senior years (budgies, if properly cared for, usually only live for 8 to 12 years).

However, you might want to have an avian vet take a look at her just to make sure that the color change isn't being caused by disease or nutritional deficiencies.
