Conure - Fractured? Beak

21 16:34:11

Question
My conure parrot appears to have a hairline fracture of the upper beak that starts on the right, lower edge of the beak and goes upalmost to the "hump" of the beak.  I was told that this fracture will heal naturally, but I am wondering if this is true.  What do you thik I should do?

If I take her to an avian vet all he  will say is, right the beak is fractured (or not), but what can he actually do or recommend do if it is indeed a fracture?

Thanks,
Feliciano

Answer
Hello Feliciano.  Thank you for your post.
The first thing is to figure out how your parrot got this fracture, if indeed that's what it is.
You have not told me the age of your bird, so it is difficult to know if it is a fracture or if his beak is peeling from age.
My Amazon Parrot is now about 18 years old, and it looks like he has a fracture, but the vets have just told me that it is because of his age.
If it is a fracture, then determine what he's fractured his beak on and correct the problem there.
If you think that it's something that perhaps your Avian Vet should take a look at, then take him in to be seen.
Chances are that with the right nutrition, if it is a fracture, it should heal on it's own.
Please keep me informed on how your bird is doing.  I am really interested.

Good luck and God Bless.
