Lovebirds and laying eggs

Question
QUESTION: I asked a question about a month or so ago, (not sure if to you), in regards to one of my lovebirds laying eggs.
At the time, I did not have a nesting box, so she laid them in her sleeping hut. She was sitting on 5 or 6 eggs, but is down to 1 egg.  (she either pushed them out, or they fell).
While waiting to see if these eggs were fertile, I purchased a nesting box.  Now it seems that I have 2 female birds and not a mating pair, (which is totally fine with me), because the other lovebird has now laid 4 eggs in the nesting box.
I know that female birds lay eggs, even non-fertile ones.
The egg that is in the sleeping hut is way over 30 days old now.  Do I remove these, (from both birds), since they are not fertile?

ANSWER: It is reccomended to remove the sleeping hut and the nesting box...the bird should stop laying eggs if there are no dark places for them to lay them in.....the eggs can be removed now along with teh sleeping hut and nesting box...if by chance anymore are laid leave tehm on teh cage floor(where they are likely to be laid) until the birds compelety ignore them for more then a day.

QUESTION: Thanks for the quick reply -
This may be a stupid question - but do the birds not need a place to sleep?  Will they just sleep on the perches or floor?

Thanks again!

Answer
Hello in all my years of owning birds my birds(budgies/cockatiels and currently peachfaced lovebirds) have never ever had anything to sleep in...my three lovebirds sleep on there perches or there ladder which lays across a perch and is attached to one side of there cage. By offering the hidey huts or sleeping huts, nesting boxes or baskets you are inviting the birds to lay eggs which is highly draining on a female birds system if she relays constantly.
