Is my moms parrot marking his territory

21 16:30:46

Question
My mom has a 3 year old blue front amazon named Fonzie. He has an interesting habit when I hold him. He is almost constantly rubbing his beak on me. It doesn't matter where he is sitting, my stomach, my shoulder or anywhere on my body. I was wondering if he is marking his territory. he has been sexed and turned out to be a boy. He is also more attached to me than my mom. Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi, John.  Thanks for posting!

Parrots don't "mark their territory" in the sense that other animals do (by urinating on an area or rubbing their scent on an area, etc.).  The beak rubbing could be a bonding behavior your BFA is exhibiting toward you (his way of showing that he likes you or likes being on you) or a way this parrot plays or perhaps just cleaning it's beak or scratching the area around it's beak.  We don't always know for sure why parrots do some of the things they do!
