Question
We have a African Grey, we hand fed him and he is 14 yrs. How would he do if we sold him. He is getting to agressive with my husband and I have asthma really bad. I worry that he might get sick or something. Do they adapt to new families.

Answer
I appreciate that this is a very difficult decision for you to make after so many years. I'd much rather that all human companions put their bird's welfare first like this than keep the bird and reduce their interaction, attention and quality of living.
Birds do bond very deeply to their humans, but they are also among the most versatile of survivors in the animal kingdom. Quick adaptation often means their survival.
Finding him the best and hopefully last home he'll ever have should be something you make a priority and take all the time you need to. I've recently dealt with a family who had a pair of parrots for more than 25 years and spent 5 years looking for the right home to place them in.
You should call your Humane Society to ask about rescue orgs in your area specifically for birds and perhaps even for Greys.  These places are often the best sources for homes looking to adopt and usually they put potential adopters through a thorough screening.
When you make the choice of a new home, you could also make it easier on the bird with his own cage and toys, food and even some visits from you at first.
