Signs of egg binding?

Question
My Blue and Gold Macaw Sam is 19 yrs. old. 7 years ago she was egg bound and was backing up to her chain on her perch and making noises..Constantly going to the bathroom I would say every 5 to 10 minutes she almost died but I got her to the Vet and she was saved..My question is she keeps putting her tail in the air and the last 2 days she has been very quiet and sleeping more, doesn't move around as much on her branches but she still likes to be held more thatn usually. I noticed her droppings linger at the end. Is this a sign that she has an egg in her?

Answer
I'm concerned along with you.  It's hard to know what's going on without a hands on exam of course, but if my girls were to have droppings not exactly dropping? I'd take the safe and sure route and see a vet right away.

You were lucky with the first incident of egg binding. Far too often it results in a fatality, or even paralysis.

Once you find out for sure that she's ok, it's time to take extra steps to prevent her from even thinking about egg making.  When you notice her getting "friendly" with her chain or any object (backing up to things) - remove them or change them.

I've got a lot more suggestions for preventing this at my site (not enough room here) - all free info, no signing in or anything like that.  No ulterior motives.
