Question
Hello Carol, I'd like to know what healthy nostrils look like for a green cheeked conure. If you could send me a picture that'd be great. My conure seems to have caked nostrils and produces a nasal sound which sounds like congestion. He also sneezes at least 5 times a day which I find a lot.
I'm gonna have him checked by a vet but would like your opinion.

I'm looking forward to your reply.

Answer
A vet visit is a good idea because congestion is not normal in healthy birds. I'll try to locate a picture of a healthy cere for you. Caked nostrils means that he has a runny nose and it is likely that he has a little respiratory infection. It is also possible that he has allergies, but that's less likely than an infection. Birds do sneeze a few times each day, usually while preening because they will inhale their own dander (they ARE allergic to themselves LOL).
I'll try to find that picture for you and please let me know how he is after the vet visit!
