Question
Hi I'm planning to buy a baby timneh african grey in three months he's currenty only 4 weeks old. I may not be able to buy a large cage at that time...I was wondering if a 20x20x30 cage will be ok for a month or two after he's brought home? He will be out of the cage as much as possible which will be a few hours everyday.

Answer
Hi, Hannah.  Thanks for posting!

It depends on how much other stuff you put in the cage with the bird.  By the time you put perches, feed/water dishes, toys, etc., inside with the bird, will your new bird be able to vigorously flap its wings inside its cage without any part of its body touching anything inside the cage?  If not, the cage is too small.  If your bird will be able to spend most of the day outside of its cage, a cage this small would be fine for the bird to eat and sleep in.  Baby parrots love to flap their wings and fly so cage size is especially important.
