Answer
Dear Honib.

What a horrible thing to have happen. I am afraid to tell you that it sounds as if your bird is very sick from the attack by the cat. Cats have an incredible amount of bacteria in their mouths and even a tiny puncture from a cats tooth can cause a human to get sick. For a bird, even the smallest cat bite can cause a massive bacterial infection that will quickly kill a bird. From what you are telling me of your birds behavior, you do have a very sick bird right now. I am not sure where you are or what country you are in since I get questions from all over the world but I will tell you that you need to get your bird to a veterinarian RIGHT AWAY. There is no treatment that I can tell you about that you can do yourself, you will have to get the bird to a vet. Please, please do not wait to get him there as he sounds very sick already and may not last much longer without professional treatment.

As for your bird losing some of his feathers, he was probably going through a moult which is when new feathers grow grow in and the old ones fall out. Even when your bird is not moulting, you need to be sure he is always kept away from your cat because a cats instinct is to kill birds.

I hope all goes well for you and that you get to a veterinarian soon enough to be able to save your feathered friend. I will be keeping you both in my thoughts.
