Question
hello i used to have two budgies but sadly when one of them died my other one started biting me its almost been a year since he passed and we both loved him and when he died my budgie turned evil like he bites and even opens skin and makes this really weird noise when you put your hand near him and then he punces for you fingers, why is he still mourning after nearly a year? he is eating and drinking obviously but how can i get him to get over his lost best buddy ? :( i still cry when i think of him

Answer
-- I'm very sorry for your loss and certainly your little one there misses their partner; however, the behavior you've described is beyond mourning and largely behavioral.

When it comes to modifying behavior in situations like this, we must start with the human.  If the owner (you) are not determined to start over and stick with it, all you're going to do is confuse the bird and make things worse.

If you ARE determined to stick with it, chances are you'll see a huge change in less than a week.

---  Go here for my guideline (look under the 'biting' and 'screaming' section.   It not only gives you steps to take, but explains things from your bird's viewpoint.

Understanding each other is vital.
