My friend has a Macaw about ten years old and every time my friend leaves her bedroom door open Jazz (the bird) goes in and puts holes in her clothes.... chewing them up.... Jazz has never done this before.... any advise would be appreciated....

Hello Melissa and thank you for your post.
It sounds like your freind is not spending enough time with Jazz and he's bored.
Have your friend get some toys that he can play with in her room.  Macaws are natural chewers, so brightly colored wooden blocks are good to use.  Have them set where he would normally go, and when he starts to play with the blocks instead of your friend's clothes, your friend should reward Jazz for not chewing on her clothes, but the blocks instead.
