Question
i first considered a sun conure but i guess they are loud, are doves good with people, how is their personality ,and what size cage and bar spacing is recommended. plus what food do they like

Answer
Hello, Yes all conures are very loud. A single just weaned ring neck dove wouldmake a fine pet...not a cuddley bird by any means but could be easily trained to stand on your shoulder and allow it to be petted...as an added bonus getting bitten hard by a dove is extremly rare as compared to something like a cockatiel or conure which have hooked beaks and can get a chunk out of you easily if they bite hard. I reccomend a parrot cage or a large finch flight 2x2 feet should be your minimum 3 foot long two feet high and about 14 inches deep is the common size of finch and canry flights which would be much roomier and nicer for the bird. They are a calm type of dove but until tamed can be slightly shy. They have beautiful calls but can get anoying at 2 am! there calls arent scratchy or high pitched like conures...doves are Not parrots. These doves do well on a seed based diet but adding fresh fruit and veggies is a good idea...the small finch or canary pelelts cna be added to the diet also for a more blanced meal. You also must provide Grift/fine gravel avalible jsut for birds as pet shops this aids in grinding the food in the crop before it goes to the stomach since doves and other soft billed birds dont hull there seeds or crack there pellets they swollow these foods whole they need some grif to "chew" tjhe food up in the crop before it goes to the stomach.
