How do i Convence my Parents on Buying me A Cockatiels?

Dear Peter,
I am only 12 years old and I tried to convince my parents on getting me a Cockatiel. I ended up getting a Cockatiel. Before you get a Cockatiel you have to do a lot of research on a Cockatiel. I read at least 5 good books and articles on Cockatiel care. To convince your parents you will have to tell me why they don't want you to get a Cockatiel.
