Question
I just got Baby girl yesterday from a friend who said she has had her for 4 years. I asked how  old Baby girl is and she was not sure. This is my first parrot and I noticed that she was sneezing and her head tucked behind her wing.  How can I make it better for her? I know is very hard for the bird. Is there a book or video that I can purchase? also, is there a way to tell her true age. Is the sneezing a bad sign? I need all the help I can get. I want to provide her with a good lovning home that she will feel safe.
Thank you
Mayi

Answer
I'm so happy to hear from someone trying so hard like you are. This is a very lucky girl!

Sneezing is something a bird might do as a result of pollen, in home allergens like dander, carpet fresheners, air fresheners, sprays, candles, all sorts of things should be eliminated from our lives in order to respect our bird's health.

When it comes to age there is no real way to know except for babies (their eyes are very dark and lighten up to their normal color as they mature) and the very old birds may have arthritic or other physical changes indicating age.

I've got a lot of bird care info at my site and you're very welcome to take a look and ask any questions you may have, any time.
