Budgie perch

Hi Tara, we've had our female budgie for over a year now and she spends most of her time perching on the ceiling fan in the kitchen. We have her on that floor were the kitchen and living room is because it is safer and more open. She is quite social and friendly, but except to come down to eat or go by somebody or check something out she is always up there. I was wondering if it is normal for a budgie to spend most of their time perched in one place?

Hello, Yes this is very normal, a bird always trys to find the highest spot to perch... as to not get attacked in tehre natural habitat so ever pet birds still do this, this is hy you will see tall cages withh all the birds perched at the top.... the rest of the cage is rarely used... something to consider if your cage is taller then long, have fun with your little birdy oh and be sure that nonone turns on that fan without noticing her yikes!
