Question
Are quaker parakeets and indain ring neck parakeets the same size? What one would make a bettr pet?

Answer
Yes, they're about the same size, Quakers maybe just a tad smaller.  As for which makes a better pet, it really depends entirely on what you're looking for in a pet.  Both make excellent talkers.  Quakers are cuddlier, but they're more demanding--more likely to become bonded to their owners to the point they make an annoyance of themselves.  They're also more likely to become territorial around their cage or their favorite person.  Ring-necks are better for someone that can't or doesn't want to spend a lot of time everyday with the bird, or for someone that doesn't want a bird that won't let anyone else handle it.  Quakers are better for someone that likes a bird to get very attached to them, and doesn't mind a little territorial attitude sometimes.

The book "Guide to Companion Parrot Behavior" by Mattie Sue Athan has very good descriptions of the personality and needs of different pet parrots, by the way.  Might be worth picking up from the bookstore or Amazon.com, it's fairly inexpensive.  If you're especially interested in Quakers, Mattie Sue Athan also has a book called "Guide to Quaker Parrots."
