At my own site (www.4AnimalCare.org), zero.  I consult with individuals, veterinarians and others about bird nutrition and behavior without charging a set fee.  Any cash gifts are used to buy food and fullfill needs for birds living with an elderly, disabled or otherwise in need caregiver so they can stay together.

I do not breed birds, but know plenty of people who do so responsibly and they don't make a great deal of money either.  Bird care is pretty expensive when done correctly.
