cockatiel in pain

My name is maggie i just got a cockatiel his name is sam well i feel so awfful i was bonding with sam on my computer and he was on my shoulder playing with my earring when my cat peter... came behind us and startled sam... swung his paw and gave sam a gash under his left wing on the elbow... you can see his elbow bone What should i do...please e-mail me ... a desperate animal lover.... i gave him a bath cleaned out his wing with peroxide placed pressure on the gauze to stop the bleeding ...when i noticed he had a cut on the joint of the elbow... if you can help me please...

When an injury is caused by a cat to a bird, enough to break the skin, you need to get urgent medical care.

There is a bacteria imparted by cats that causes severe illness in birds - and the only way to be really sure your little guy is ok is by having a vet see him and getting him an injection of antibiotic.  Nothing over the counter will work for this.  

Since you just got him it's probably a good idea to have a vet check up anyway - especially now.
