Question
My brother has a pet parrot, and my bro wants to paint the house. Would the paint fumes harm the parrot? Should my brother remove the parrot to a boarding place?

Answer
Hello Amy,

Birds have a very sensitive respiratory system. Many fumes can be toxic and deadly to birds. This includes paint, teflon or non stick cookware, candles, many cleaning products etc.

Yes the parrot must be removed from the house. If you can smell the paint then there are fumes still in the house. I would not risk putting a bird back into a painted room until it has been aired out for several days.
