Escaped Parrot.

My neighbour's parrot escaped two days ago and has been sitting near the top of a very high tree.  They attempted to reach it and it flew up to a higher tree.  Currently they have the cage outside in view with the doors open.  The bird "talks" frequently and is aware of the owners voice, however it shows no sign of coming down.  Any suggestions?

Just exactly what they're doing! Very smart of them. Now they just need patience and the bird needs to be lucky enough to not be harrassed by predatory birds like hawks or aggressive birds like Jays.

Make sure his favorite foods are in the cage.  Leave the cage quietly alone at twilight/dusk which is when the bird is much more likely to enter.  Be prepared though to quickly get that door shut and take him inside.

Birds that never show interest in flying teach us the importance of keeping their wings clipped with just one little flight like this.
