Question
I have a blue front that is 5 years old.  He has never done alot of screaming  but about 2 months ago he began screaming all the time.  Nothing has changed that I can think of other than we have had company off and on.  It is driving me crazy to the point I have thoughts of giving him away  but I know that I can't do that  because I really love him but I'm getting to old to listen to the screaming all the time.  Is there any way to break them of this?

Answer
Hello Judy.  Thank you for posting.

Your bird could be objecting to the confusion of having the off and on company/  Parrots like routine.
If he is in a room where there is a lot of activity, try putting him into a room where it's quieter for him.
When he screams, even though it's hard, ignore him.  If you yell at him, tell him to "shut up", and so on, this is a negative reinforcement.  It's showing him that when he wants attention, all he has to do is scream and he'll get the attention, even though it's just you yelling at him.  Once he is quiet, then pay attention to him, give him treats, and so on.
Do, however keep in mind that birds need to be vocal, and some more that others.  This is their way of exercising their lungs (much like a newborn baby), and communicating with their flock, and he is to the age now where he needs to be vocal.  This is also mating season, and he'll be more vocal than usual, trying to call a mate. (I know that my Amazon is screaming more than usual too)

Good luck and God Bless.
