About feeding my cockateil and interactions with it......

 Hiiiiii Keli,
I am pretty sure that my cockateil is a female cos it has a yellowish shade in the inner side of its tail however i failed to understand that the reddish colour on its chicks are darkish or faded. My cockateil whistles and is quite happy in its cage but is not quite happy when it is let out. It is not that active outside and i fail to interact with it.It only eats the love bird mix seeds but is least interested in fresh vegetables like apple and carrot.HELP ME OUT.Thank you.

Lets see
1) how to make him more active when out of cage.
I would make sure you have a nice play area with some of his favorite toys and also millet or a treat stick will make him look forward to being out more things like this take time but gently talking to him and petting him will help gain his trust and make him a more confident pet.

2) As far as diet goes
I would start converting to a pellet mix particular Zupreem this is alot more healthy my cockatiel isn't a big veggie eater either but at least she gets reasonable nutrition through pellets these are a must if they won't take healthier foods as seeds are extremely fatty.
