Question
My 7 year old bird has had a problem with his feathers on his chesr/tummy and on his back, head wings and tail fine. The feathers grow and then drop out, more like fluff. He does not pull them out. He eats a good mix of seeds, apples, grapes and lettuice ( very fussy eater). He has had blood tests for beak and feather disease but this came back negative. Please can you help. Can send a photo of him. regards Cheryl

Answer
Hi Cheryl!
Thank you for asking my advice!

First and foremost I have to advise you to see a good avian vet!  There are so many other things besides beak and feather disease that could be causing this.  I can only guess at what it may be.

Examples of potential causes may be, hormonal or reproductive diseases, trauma, metabolic diseases, virus, bacterial infection, fungal infections as well as internal and external parasites.

I would recommend that you have the vet do a full work up to rule these out.

Best of luck!
Sincerely
Danielle
