Question
I had a quaker for some time but when I went away to college he became attached to my parents so I did decide after several years of taking care of him to let my parents have him. I worked in pet shop and am pretty smart on birds. I was looking to get a congo african grey now that my life has settled but I have some confusion on the average lifespan. Many sites I read say 50+ but some others say a average lifespan of 25 and even 15 years which scares me because I want a life companion not something that is going to die in 25 years. Why are there so many differences on this and what is the lifespan of a congo?

Answer
Hello and thank you for your question,

Yes there is alot of debate over the subject of grey lifespans, With the best of care and regualr vet checks you are looking at 50+ for sure...however if you dont take the bird to a avaian vet when its sick you might only have him for 5 years its a variable.
