Question
Oh thanks Becky! That Chicken broth sounds like a great tip, i'm going to the store today, I'll pick some up while I"m there. :0) Chocolate helps the immune system too doesnt it?

So you think my boys have myco and I should just expect that they're going to have flare ups now and then? They are on Tetracycline now, and he told me to put it in their water with 2 tbsp of sugar, they suck it down, they just love that sugar in their water. We have another vet visit in about a week and a half, so I'll see what he says then. But what exactly do I need to do for MY boys for a quarantine? I know that when the new babies get here that they cant have any contact with my boys and that they need to be kept in the farthest room away from mine. But what needs to be done to my boys when they get healthy?

Unfortunately I dont have a seperate room away from the house to keep the babies. . . . maybe I can convince my gramma to let me keep them at her house during quarantine, but they wouldnt get as much attention from us being over there. :0( But if it'll help keep them healthy I'll try to do that.

I think I just might move the cage into the closet, because there is no vent in there at all so they wont get a draft, or get too cold from the ac.  They get a lot of free range time, during which they get to leap onto the bed and hang out with us, so maybe they wont be too lonely in the closet. They'll probably only be in there when were not home anyways.
I've been putting the blanket over the cage, and they have suprisingly not been chewing it. :0) They only chew things that really irritate me like their towel bedding i put on the shelves or the electrical tape. :-P They have a cabinet cage, which has just recently been expanded upwards to make room for the extra baby I couldnt help but get. :0)

Because you are getting new babies, you have to start your boys quarantine on the day they are completely healthy. You do not want to bring in babies during a time when your boys are having a secondary infection, or right after, because the SI is airborne. Babies getting a SI, will make them have scared lungs, and they will be sickly their whole lives. It happened to my Bartock. He was 6 weeks old when he got the human cold virus. He now has Myco flares as bad and as often as my rescue feeder boy Coonar, where as non of my rats that I have bred have been born with or developed Myco flares. I am very careful with my breeding because it is terrible trying to keep a rat with Myco flares healthy. Just about anything will cause a myco flare when they have scared lungs from secondary infections.

Hope I helped again ;0) Let me know how they do ;0)

Sorry! I must have missed this email...

Have the DR put your boys on Azithromycin, given orally with a syringe, it tastes like banana. It will work much faster. Tetracycline is a kinda obsolete drug for rats now.
Sending your boys or the babies to your Grandma is a good idea. Read about quarantine on line, such as my website, and lone-star-rats.com you can look it up on www.ratguide.com to.
Your other plans sound good ;0)
I am sorry to be so short, my Brother in law is coming tonight, so I am very busy, plus we are heading to KY for 10 days next week.
