Question
Dear expert,
I am trying to get a hamster because I've always wanted one for some time now, and I am a first time buyer of hamsters.  I have done extensive research on the care of hamsters, however i wanted to know which hamsters were the most social amongst people and have a less chance of nipping/biting.  I have been looking at robo hamsters, winter whites, and siberian dwarf, and russian hamsters and am confused on which one i should get because i dont know how they behave around humans and i would like to play with them without the fear of them biting me. :)

thanks you for your time

Answer
Syrian is the most popular because they are easy to handle, less likely to bite, and more social then all other breeds. They will not do good with other hamsters after 10 weeks of age and will fight.

All hamsters have the possibility of biting if you dont handle them regularly and keep them use to you. Make sure to play with them daily if you can and make slow movement in the cage while he/she gets use to you. Make sure you can tell the sex so you dont end up with something you dont want(like a pregnant female).
