caring for caught mouse

Question
my cat brought in a mouse who had a broken leg. we decided to keep it since it
probably wouldn't have much of a chance outside with its injuries. we aren't
sure what kind of house hold foods to give it and what it needs in its little
"house" we made for it.

Answer
Dear Cara, Taylor, Natalie,

Thank you for saving the little mouse.  It may very well survive, though its mobility will be limited.  Give it seeds, nuts, dried oatmeal, nonsweet cereal, popped popcorn, crackers, toast, fresh vegetables... but if you keep it, it's best to get a rat and mouse mix or blocks from the pet store.

It will like to nest in Kleenex, small pieces of yarn, half an old sock cut lengthwise, anything soft.

Good luck and health to Mousie : )

squeaks,

Natasha
