AnswerHi Olyvia! In the wild, Hermit crab females lay eggs that she releases in the ocean and they babies grow up on the tide. Once in a great while a hermit crab will make eggs and one or two times they have hatched but the the tiny babies can't live to get bigger because the need to be in the ocean and even our salt water in the tanks isn't good enough because in the ocean they eat the tiny little creatures that live in the sea (protozoa).
