Hello

I took my five week old male out of my three month old females cage yestereday because he was bothering her (was was pregnant when I bought her), I put him in his own cage with lots of food/water and a hiding place but he wont stop sqeaking. When I take him out he sqeaks when he heres something he sqeaks he seems to sqeak almost all day long. Why is he sqeaking? Is there anything I can do to stop him? They are very high pitched sqeaks I cant put him back in with teh female because she is due soon.
Answer -
He will be ok...They wheek when they want food, or treats...or when they want attention,or company...hopefully she will have a little male (when he is 3 weeks old, he can be put with the older male!)
Good luck

and you did do the right thing by separating them!!

Jess

Hello again

The male stoped squeaking two days ago, this evening the pregnant female started to run around her cage franticly I dont know what happened the room had been quite until she start running around so it couldnt have been a noise that scared her, she has never done this before could this be a sign that she is giving birth soon?
Answer -
Did you see her running around? She may have seen a shadow...or she may have been "popcorning" which is their way of playing & showing happiness... Have you felt her babies moving yet? from the first time you feel them moving..it should be APPROXIMATELY 2 weeks!!

I felt the babys moving a week ago but I had just got her from a pet store so they may have been kicking before that.

Answer
Any babies yet? You should be expecting them within the next week! She will probably have them while you are away...when she goes into labor, it will look like she is "hiccuping" labor SHOULD go smoothly, and quickly! Just be sure the food, water, pellets, hay, fruits and veggies...are in the reach of the babies...they will be "running" around within hours after birth...and eating with a few days....
