what causes goiters in guinea pigs and is there anything you can do to prevent
them

From all that I've read, goiters are cause in Guinea Pigs that are used for laboratory testing of certain drugs.

Though as with all Guinea Pig health problems, just make sure they are getting plenty of Vitamin C. Guinea Pigs have a low immune system and a vitamin C Deficiency, so to keep them healthy they need extra C to strengthen their immune system and provide them the C their body system is missing.
Best way to provide the extra C is through fresh foods. As the drops for their water isn't very effective and some don't like the taste.
