Question

i have 2 Guinea pigs that stay in the same area...we have had them  since they were very young and they are about a year old. One of them died unexpectedly... He seemed healthy then next time we checked him he passed....not sure what caused it...but i am writing about my other pig... could he die too...since they stayed so close... what should i do thnx for any help that you could give me

Answer
Joann,

The possibility of your second one dying also is slim. There are somethings you may want to do to eliminate the chance all together.

First step, clean out the cage. Not just the bedding but scrub it out with a some antibacterial soap and dry it with a clean towel, refill the cage with clean bedding. Make sure to wash everything that is in the cage, water bottle, food bowl, hay rack, toys and such. That way all the germs are wiped out and that slims down the possibility of losing the other one.

Second, take him down to see the vet. Just to be on the safe side of things. Just to make sure there is nothing serious that the other one may have passed to him.

I'm sorry you lost one of them.

Good luck to you.
  Take care now,
    Jules
