Question
Is it True that Females don't like to be held, unlike males? I recently picked her up, and she bit me hard and was bleeding like crazy. Her name is April by the way. She's only 13 weeks and 7 days old. She's very active when it comes to food.=)And I also been noticing that she's been squeeling a lot. I don't know why she does that, because she has fresh food and water, and an igloo to stay in as shelter, I love her very, very much, I hope that you will help me.

With care,
  Amy

Answer
Hello Amy and thanks for the question.

In my experience there is no differance between the two genders and their responsiveness to human contact and affection. There IS more likely a chance that this GP in particular does not trust/like humans. Some GPs, no matter what you do or how much love you give them, will not like or trust you. It stinks but it is true.

GPs will VERY rarely bite and draw blood. They would have to feel very nervous, be sick or have eaten meat. Once a rodent has been fed meat you can pretty much forget holding it without being bit.

Wear some gloves and keep trying to earn the GP's trust. It may take time and patience or it may never come.

Good luck to you. I hope it works out.
Thanks,
Ryan
