guniea pig health

Question
My guniea pig had a cold with lots of boogers around his nose. I used a warm damp towel to loosen it up and clean it off.  Today, where his lips are usually together ,right under his nose, they are now seperated and exposing his teeth all the way up to his nose. He doesn't seem to be in pain, is eating well, and is his same old self. I'm on an extremely limited budget and hope this will not call on a trip to the vet. Any information you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

He will need to get treated for the cold first, the separation of the lips is probably to relieve some drainage pressure in the nose canal. I have some more information and treatment tips on my website http://woopets.bravehost.com . Let me know if you have any other questions about treatment.
