Guinea Pig Pelvic Bones during Pregnancy

Question
I have a very pregnant guinea pig. I have felt for the separation of her pelvic bones. I can fit about 3 fingers in between (I do have small hands). What I want to know is this normal and how long (on average) will it be until she gives birth? I have felt & seen the babies move for about 2 weeks now. She does not want much contact with me right now (only wants her veggies ect.) so I have let her be but look in on her multiple times a day, I don't mess with her just look at her. I figure it will be soon since she doesn't want my attention as much right now.

Answer
I think that if you're fitting three fingers between bones what you are probably feeling is the hip bones, not the pelvic bones. The pelvic bones are very small and very close together, just on either side of her vent (the genital opening).  If there is a loose feeling and you can feel at least one finger between the bones she's about a day away from delivery, maybe two. It's usually 24 to 48 hours that you can feel the looseness of the pelvic bones.

You will probably wake up in the next day or so to extra little eyes looking at you. She won't want to be handled at this point because she's feeling very heavy and very lazy.  So keep your camera handy. I suspect you will be taking baby pictures by tomorrow or the following day.
