Question
Hi Annie,
I had talked to you a few weeks ago about our critically ill pig Beavie who was near death with Scurvy symptoms.  Well.... after two weeks of handfeeding, medication, and daily vitamin C supplements he has made a 100% recovery!!!  We are so thrilled and are calling him the miracle pig.  He was strong enough to move back in with his adopted brother last night and is running and popping again!   He is eating more than ever and has more than doubled his weight.  We are so fortunate and want to let everyone know that if you are willing to take the time to handfeed/water your sick pig (if it's Scurvy)around the clock every 2-3 hours, and supplement with a lot of vitamin C, there is a good chance to save them if you don't give up.   10 days ago Beavie couldn't stand on his feet or hold his head up and now is is fine.  The vet thought his head/neck may stay crooked but that fixed itself too!  We fed him a ton of cantaloupe and sucked up all the cantaloupe juice with a tiny syringe and gave him about 50 cc's every two hours in addition to fresh parsley, romain, and the Oxbow small mammal handfeeding formula.  He loved it and it kept him alive.   Just wanted to share our great news.  From what we've read, having a 100% recovery with a case as severe as his, does not happen very often.   Thanks again for all your support!  -Lisa

Answer
Hi Lisa!

This is great news!  I'm so happy for all of you.  Give Beavie a hug for me, too.

Thanks for the posting.  Never give up is a great message for anyone who loves their pet.

You're very welcome too.  I'm glad I could give you the boost to keep going.

Best wishes!

Annie
