I week ago, i got a new guinea pig. Then my brother wanted one so we went back and got one on her buddies from the pet store. Since he can't buy a new cage for a couple more allowances, we had to put them in the same cage. My guinea pig is being very mean and territorial to the new one. What can we do so they will be friends?

Answer -
Hi Alexandra

I presume both pigs are males?

2 males introduced together will generally have a battle to see if one of them will be the boss. This behaviour usually settle down within a few days but they do need to be separated if one is doing any harm to the other.

Chasing around and bottom sniffing is something that you dont need to worry about so much though. Can you describe the behaviour please.

Answer
Hi again

Ok, well thats a little more surprising but not unheard of. The same thing applies though, if one is doing real damage to the other then you do need to separate them. you just need to judge if things get bad enough for this to be neccesary.
