Question
Her name is Marla, and she has beautiful long hair. I have noticed over the past couple of weeks her separating her food into different piles, but not eating very much of it. she will only eat a little of her alpha alpha, but she still eats her lettuce and carrots up! Today i went to hold her and she just layed there really limp and let me pick her up and usually it is a little of a chase to get her out. I noticed her breathing really hard and all she does is sit in her igloo house in her own waste. Unfortunately i am not sure of her age, i got her from the humane society and they did not know her age. i have had her for about 8 months, and she has been very cheery until recently. I also have a boar i keep them separate though because i would rather her not get pregnant. but i keep their cages close. today i gave  her a bath and cut her hair. she got a little more peppy but nothing even close to normal. also her stool is really weird looking! it looks like little balls, and it is really hard, and some of it is even undescribable looking. please help me help her! i am really worried and i really love her!
thank you!
Micheil

Answer
Micheil,

It sounds like she needs to see a vet. As it sounds like she is constipated and may have URI (Upper Respiratory Infection) or something along those lines. You'll need to get Marla to a vet soon. For the time being try giving her timothy hay or even let her sit out on untreated grass for about 30 minutes. Try picking out some of the dried or fancy things in her pellet bowl so that way there is more pellets in there and see if she won't eat more that way. Also make sure she is getting plenty of water, and dip her lettuce in some mineral oil and see if that doesn't help getting her back to normal. Try that for today and if you notice no change take her to the vet and have her looked at to find out what it is.

I hope this helps and that Marla feels better soon,
             Take care now,
