Question
I have had my guinea pigs just two days, 3 girls and 1 boy, i have separated them but the boy seems very unhappy and he is extremely nervous, especially as he is alone. All of the girls are nervous too but one of them seems more placid than the others. One of the other girls is very nervous too but not as much as the boy, and the last girl is nervous but seems abit aggressive both towards me and the other girls, and she definitely doesn't like the boy, i think shes abit of a bully, is this normal? she hasn't bitten me or anything but she turns towards your hand when you go to pick her up. And is the rest of their behaviors normal? giving that they are only 5 week old and in a new environment?

Answer
Hello kirsti,
aww youe guinea pigs sound very cute and what's going on is very normal. The females are going to figure out who is the alpha female so she may grunt, show her teeth and follow them around and sniff or bump their butts but this is all normal. Continue to handle them so they won't be afraid of you. :)
