guinea pigs labour

by guinea pig has been pregnant for 81 days and is as flat as a pancake because
she is so fat.
we can here the baby[s] inside her but there not coming out

Hi Darcy,

This is quite unusual. I recommened you take her to a specialist small animal or exotic pet vet. It could be that there are complications and that labour needs to be induced. She could just be late, as it is difficult to pinpoint conception unless she was purposely bred. However, it will be best to get her checked out, to ensure you have a happy, healthy mum and babies.

Make her as comfortable as possible by not handling her unless necessary, putting some extra hay in the cage, and making sure she has access to lots of cold water and fresh veg.
