Question
How do u clip the front nails of a guinea pig? I've heard other people talk about wrapping them in a towel. How do u do that?

Answer
Kiki,

Here is the easiest way to cut a Guinea Pigs nails, and is easier then wrapping them in a towel as it always seems harder to cut them then.

The easiest nail clipper to use for Guinea Pigs that I have found is the one I use for my own nails, much easier to use and less chance of cutting to far.

A friend of mine who is an experienced nail clipper, uses the following holds to clip the nails on her pigs' feet. She places her pointer finger between the front legs and under the chin to prevent the pig from biting and holds them up near her shoulder.

You also have the option of having some one else hold the Guinea pig like I descried above and you clip the nails.

And there is also the option of taking the Guinea Pig to the vet and having the vet show you in person an easy way to cut the nails of your Guinea Pig. Or you can make the monthly trip to have the vet do it for you every time. Nail trim visits are free visits to the vet so there is no need to worry about it being expensive.

I hope this helps and good luck to you,
          Take care,
