Question
our guinea pigs  live indoors and seem to have developed a coughing and choking sound they do not do it all of the time but  you cant miss it ,it is very loud i give them pellets hay and they have veggies too and they seem okay what can be wrong? is it something im doing? they are 1 years old.

Answer
No there is nothing wrong with them. They do occasionally make these little choking/gagging sounds that are worrisome to the owner but actually are not a problem. If they had any serious issues the sound would come far more frequently.

I know the sound you're speaking of and it almost sounds like they're clearing their throats. But it isn't something that needs treatment, so stop worrying. They are fine.
