Question
I just weighed her today and she is 0.78kg and on her 7th week on her first she was 0.60kg so getting fatter i just had a scream at my friend for grabbing her back and rubbing hard poor little ruby was not happy! My friends mum was there too and told her off! The male is doing well and his mange is healing up well i hope she will have a nice litter and that its not too small (like 1 baby) because the smaller the litter the longer the wait! My rabbit (evil throw the gp down the stairs rabbit) has go out of the garden for the third time but i was lucky to get her back this time!
is there anything i can give Ruby to help her along the way it is only her first is there anything i need to give her to help? Thank You for helping me understand!
Oh before i send this i wanted to tell you that the Male was sniffing Rubys butt (again) but Ruby just ran away (no squirt) is my male getting his male instits back?
         Thank You!

the female is about 6 and a half weeks prgnant (or so we think) and she is quite jumpy, drinks alot and i think i can feel the babies i just worry because they seem quite big and i think there is about 3 do you think the male will mate with her when she comes into heat? yesterday i put them in the run on the grass and put in some new stuff for them to explore the female had great fun jumping around and peeping over the top of the objects in the run the male just liked his little plastic house and grass he is over exploring but he did seem more playful! Does this mean the female's sencce of adventure is rubbing off on him?
i think i should have called her Lara Croft! She seems very healthy and looks happy i hope she will be a good mother!

HI its me (again) i did not say this in the original but i did get a small female dwarf rabbit that pulled his hair out ripped up his back and chucked him down the stairs of the dobble story hutch! we keep the bunny on the bottom floor (the gap is covered) then we got the other male gp who bit his sides and kept mounting him (he did not like this) so we gave him to a friend who already had guinea pigs and rabbits and he is very happy. Then we got Ruby ( the pregnant female) who when we got had been living with her brother age 5 months ( how dum). My male Chockey has never mounted her and is coming up to 5 so he is too old to be neutured but they adore each other i just wonder does he know that he is a male gp?

I'm sorry your bunny died. It's strange. Over the last few days I've gotten so many questions involving or regarding death. Male guinea pigs don't get along too often. It's very rare, even if they grow up together. I personally house my males seperately from each other because they don't get along. I'm glad you took in a pregnant female. He will most likely try to hump her, but the damage is done. She's pregnant, and as long as they can live together in harmony it's fine. HOWEVER, before she gives birth, seperate them as a guinea pig goes into heat in as little as an hour after giving birth, meaning she can become pregnant again. That's cruel, in my opinion. Also, he can kill the babies, by trampling them while trying to mate her. If you want them to live together AFTER she had given birth, my best suggestion is for one to get spayed or neutered (If looking for a guinea pig vet, look for vets in the phone book, then one who treats "exotics" or "exotic pets"). This will prevent more babies or else the breeding cycle will continue. Usually, I wouldn't say this, but did you consider getting another bunny? (Make sure to take your guinea pig with you if you decided to pick out a rabbit to see if they get along) This is under the condition you can't afford or don't want to pay for one of the pigs to be neutered/spayed. However, that'd be a last resort, and I wouldn't give any of the pigs away unless I could guarantee them a permanent home. Perhaps a small dwarf female rabbit would do good with your male. If that failed though, you'd have 4 animals to clean up after. Guinea pigs are social animals. These are the solutions I can think of. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you have any more questions. I wish you all a lifetime of health, happiness, and love. :)

Nasty Girl Bunny! Picking on your poor pig! It could be your guinea pig has lost his sex drive, or I know this is weird sounding, but is there a possibility he could ALREADY be neutered? I know it sounds weird, but sometimes it's hard to tell whether an animal has had the "snip" or not. I'm surprised he hasn't tried to mount her. However, I've heard of animals either not having or losing their sex drives. As long as he makes no moves to hump her in any way, I'd let them stay together. Just make sure to seperate her before she gives birth. She may pick on him when she does or he may upset her. If you want to be on the really safe side though, you could try getting her spayed. It doesn't sound like it's neccessary though. Animals are as unique as people. Remember that. It sounds like you may just have a gem of a guinea pig. :) Please feel free to contact me if you have any more questions :) Keep me posted on how they're doing :) I'm wishing you all the best of luck  :)

*Laughing hysterically* Your male guinea pig got told no in animal language. It sounds like he wanted to mate her, and his female counterpart was in no mood. Don't worry about it! He may think, however, think twice about making advances on her again! :) Have a nice day! And feel free to ask me more questions! :)

Thanks for voting for me :) Your compliments are wonderful to hear! :) Animals are different from humans, obviously (sometimes I think for the better). A guinea pig doesn't get embarassed about humping a male or female. It's in their DNA structure. As long as it feels good, they'll do it. An animal doesn't know it's "being gay." The only thing it's thinking is "Hey! This feels good! I'm going to keep doing it because it feels so good!" Guinea pigs are very protective of their mates. It's a primal instinct, and they seem to need to be together constantly, or they'll continue to fight for you to put them back in with their mate. To tell if she's pregnant will take some time I'm sorry to say :( Sometimes I wish they made guinea pig pregnancy tests LOL. Also, no, I'm not sure if one for a human would work LOL. Take note of how she looks now. I mean really look at her, and soak up the details. About 5 weeks after conception, she'll be showing visibly. This is about 35 days into the pregnancy, and it takes a pig anywhere from 60-75 days to give birth. You may notice changes in her behavior such as her eating more, drinking more, or lazing about more. She may be more eager to stay around her mate , or she may actually want to get away from him. Her belly may become more tender. A slight change in behavior is another sign (ex. she liked for you to hold pet her a certain way, now she fights you when you stroke her like old times). To change his behavior for the better, try seperating him from all the other animals. Give him his own cage and set him either in another room, or even on another floor of your house. Just make sure you don't forget about him! LOL. I suppose you could try to tell your mum that animals can't be gay because they don't even know what gay is LOL. If it makes her feel uncomfortable though, give him his own cage. I hope this helps you! Feel free to ask me anything else if a question pops in your head! Have a nice day, Izzy! :)

Usually, the smaller the litter the larger the babies can become inside the womb. If she's pregnant, I don't think she'll be going to heat, and even if she does, what does it matter? LOL. Just make sure before she gives birth to seperate them as she'll go into heat after giving birth. If she doesn't want his "loving" then she'll just squirt him in the face with urine. I always loved Tomb Raider LOL. Yes, it's quite possible "Lara's" sense of adventure is wearing off on him. Animals (I'm including humans too) tend to rub off on each other and we pick up other's traits. For instance, my boyfriend can't stand to get his sock wet, and neither can his mother. I'm guessing one or the other influenced that trait. I'm sure she'll be a good mother. Most guinea pigs that are handled frequently and enjoy humans end up being excellent parents of excellent babies. :)I'm hoping you find joy out of the upcoming birth. Believe it or not, it's an experience of a lifetime to watch the babies grow. :) Let me know if you need anything else :) I'll talk to you later. Have a nice day!:)

God! You're friend sounds terrible! She grabbed Ruby? I would be angry! She could have caused her to give birth early. I'm glad she's gaining weight :) That's a good sign. LOL, you're lucky to get your rabbit back. Where I live, a lot of animals (rabbits and squirrels) get hit by cars, or the neighbor's dog will try to eat them! I suggest you just keep feeding Ruby all she'll eat. Feel free to let her stuff her self. Food, food, food. That's what's important. Give her raw fresh fruits and vegetables at room temperature, and lots of water. I suggest changing her water daily. Give her mounds and mounds of hay. Keep a steady supply in her cage, and give her the fresh fruits and veggies several times daily. LOL, you're male sounds like he's getting his "groove" back. He sounds like a typical male, and when there's a female around he'll do all in his power to have her (this is true in human males too LOL). As long as she's in the cage with him, his instincts will take over, and he'll try to mate her. I'm wishing you all of the luck I can! Hope to hear from you soon! :)
