Question
I have one guinea and I want to buy another one. The cage I have is 28in long, 15.5in tall and 17 inches from the front to back. They say a 48in, 18in, 32in is the minimum for 2. I dont have that kind of space but the cage I have has a platform on top for the food and etc. Is this enough space?

Answer
This should be ample space for two pigs. You can also give them some floor time that helps them exercise as well. Another nice way for them to get some additional run time is to find a place in the grass, perhaps under a tree.  Build a little pen and put some kind of shelter or hiding place for them in case of predators such as hawks or large birds. Stay with them so they are safe, and watch how they enjoy the grass grazing and just lying around.

Just remember that if they are in the direct sunlight they can die within 15 minutes. So if you're able to offer them a little pasture be sure it's shaded and cool enough.

There's another way to allow your pigs to get some exercise and that's swimming. Of course you're not to ever leave them alone to do so, but if you have a small wading pool put about four inches of water in it and watch how they enjoy paddling around. Again, always with supervision.  It's also a good way to give them a quickie bath.

During the very hot months when my caviary gets too warm I fill my deep utility sink in the garage and let each of them paddle for a few minutes in some cool water. Then I put them back into their cages dripping wet and let them cool down.
