baby hamters

Question
My dwarf white russian hamster had babies 6 of them and ate 1. Why?  When i split the babies I couldn't tell the sex and about 2weeks later one of them got injured and the rest of them bit it by the neck and so it died. Why?

Mothers will sometimes eat babies if she thinks they are in danger of if they're ill.

Dwarf Hamsters will not always get along, if they start to fight then the one that is causing the fight should be removed from the cage into it's own cage.
