taming a dwarf hamster

can i tame my dwarf hamster?...if yes, how? what are their likes and dislikes? how do i get her use to me?

Hi Amanda,

Yes, Dwarf hamsters can be tamed.  You'll definitely have to be patient and wait for your hamster to get used to you.  First, make sure she sees your hand before you pick her up; never suddenly grab her, because that will scare her.  When you handle her, let her run from hand to hand; don't try to keep her still, because that will agitate her.  Also, you can give your hamster a treat - place a treat such as a plain Cheerio on the palm of your hand, and place your hand at the bottom of the cage.  When your hamster approaches your hand, you can gently scoop her up.  That way, she'll associate your hand with a treat.  Finally, handle your hamster for only 10-15 minutes at a time, since she will get thirsty and hungry.
