Question
I really want to get a Dwarf hamster and I heard that they do not like to be aone
but the person I am living with does not want to. Would it be bad to only get one
or will it adapt to being by itself? will it be less happy by itself?

Answer
Hi Danielle,

Dwarf hamsters are social hamsters which means that they can live in pairs or small groups, but it does not mean that they have to have company.

I have a few dwarf hamsters who live on their own in separate cages and they are perfectly happy that way and they dont need any company at all.

Even if you do begin with more than one dwarf, you may end up having to split them anyway once they reach maturity if they begin to fight.

So it is probably best just to get one in the first place.

Good Luck,

Kind Regards,

Tammy
