Gerbils nails

my gerbils about 3 years old now and he has stoped shredding things i put in his cage such as old toilet paper tubes is this because of his age?also his nails are geting very long, what can i do to help him?

Hi Bridget,

It sounds very likely that it will be down too his age!!!  The only thing you can really do if you are concerned about the length is take him to the vets. It is not advisable for you to try and cut them your self as it is very very easy to take too much off and you can do a lot of damage, plus they fidgit a lot!
