fighting in older gerbils

Question
I have 3 male gerbils and have lived together peacefully for a couple of years now.But two of them were recently in a bloody fight. I separated them then later tried to see how they would react to each other again if put together. I also simplified the cage (ie took out all tubes and toys)and left the basics so i could keep an eye out for them and to perhaps calm them. And they acted like nothing had happened. All three are back together seemingly fine. Will they eventually break out into another fight later on perhaps when I'm not around to stop it before one of them gets killed. Thanks for any advice you have!

Answer
you know there is a big chance that they could get into another fight. i would really consider seperating them for good just to be on the safe side, if they are a couple of years old though they sound like they are pretty old guys. if i owned them and they never showed agression unti just then, i would have done the same thing you would have done and then probably kept them together again monitoring them more closely. the only reason why i wouldn't have seperated them would be because they are a few years old and I would pray that it's just a mishaps that never happaned again.
