dog breeds

Question
I read an article recently regarding Golden Labs.  It is not a Golden Retriever or a Yellow Lab but a mix breed of both. Sounds like a heavenly combination to me.  Have you heard anything about them?

I haven't heard anything about them, but I would imagine it would be a very nice hybrid. A good cross of two good dogs. But since both are nice breeds on their own. I have to wonder why anyone would bother with a cross. They're very similar in temperment , personality and instinct since both are bred to be retrievers. It kind of escapes me :)
